The Ogre’s Bride Episode 12 Release Date, Time and Where to Watch

The finale of The Ogre’s Bride is almost here, and the date confuses a lot of people. Japan gets the episode after midnight, so some sites say Saturday and some say Sunday. Both are right. Here is the clean version, plus what to expect from the last episode.

Episode 12 Release Date and Time

Episode 12 is out on Saturday, September 19, 2026. New episodes have come out on Saturdays since the premiere on July 4, and the finale keeps that pattern.

The Japanese TV broadcast is about 90 minutes ahead of the Crunchyroll release. Japanese TV lists late-night shows as “24:30,” which means half past midnight. So the show airs on Saturday night by the listing, but the clock in Japan reads Sunday morning.

Region Japan TV broadcast Crunchyroll (English subs)

Times can move a little without notice, so check the Crunchyroll page for your region on the day.

Why the Dates Look Wrong on Some Sites

A few pages give the wrong day for this episode, and one I checked mixed up September 12 with September 19. September 12 was Episode 11’s date. When a site lists the Japanese time next to the international date, it can end up a day off or a week off.

If you only remember one thing, remember this: for most of the world, Episode 12 is a Saturday release.

Where to Watch The Ogre’s Bride

Crunchyroll is the main place. It streams the show worldwide except Japan, China, Korea and Mongolia, with English subtitles.

In Southeast Asia, listings mention Medialink and Ani-One Asia. In Japan, the show is on Tokyo MX, BS11, AT-X and other channels, and streams on services like ABEMA and U-NEXT. Rights change by country, so open your local app before assuming.

Is This the Final Episode? Is There a Season 2?

Yes. The series is confirmed at 12 episodes, so Episode 12 is the finale. The run started on July 4, 2026, and it has been one weekly episode since.

I searched for a Season 2 announcement and found nothing as of September 19, 2026. There is a lot of source material left, though. The light novels have nine volumes, and the manga has ten. A live-action film also came out in Japan in March 2026 with Ren Nagase and Ai Yoshikawa, so the property is clearly popular. That is not a renewal, but it is a decent reason to hope.

The Story So Far (No Big Spoilers)

Yuzu Shinonome is a high school girl who has spent her life in the shadow of her sister, Karin. Karin was chosen as the bride of a fox spirit, Yōta Kogetsu, so the family treats her like royalty. Yuzu gets the leftover attention, which is almost none.

One day Yuzu meets Reiya Kiryuin, the heir of the most powerful ayakashi clan. He calls her his bride and treats her like something precious. For a girl who has never been chosen, that is a big shock.

The voice cast is strong on paper. Saori Hayami plays Yuzu, Yūichirō Umehara plays Reiya, Manaka Iwami plays Karin, and Ryōta Ōsaka plays Yōta. The opening song is “Hitokoto (A Word)” by ClariS.

Episode 10, “The Demon Banquet,” put Yuzu inside Reiya’s world with Karin in the same room. Episode 11 then stepped back to show the sisters’ childhood and how brides get chosen. That sets up the finale directly.

What I’m Watching For in the Finale

I’ll say up front that these are my guesses, not leaks.

Does Yuzu get to stand up for herself? For most of the season, Reiya has been the one doing the protecting. The best ending gives Yuzu a moment where she speaks for herself, without waiting for him to save her.

How much do they wrap up in 24 minutes? Twelve episodes is a short run for a story with a family conflict, a clan hierarchy and a romance. Fitting all of that into one final episode is a hard job.

Is this a real ending or a “read the novels” ending? Some adaptations stop in the middle and hope for a sequel. I’d like a finish that feels complete on its own, even if there’s more story waiting.

What Hasn’t Worked So Far

I don’t want to write only nice things, so here is what I’ve seen and heard.

Episode 11 divided viewers. Some fans on AniList said the backstory felt like filling gaps to reach a set ending point, and one called it pointless. I think the idea makes sense, since backstory helps a finale hit harder. But dropping a flashback episode just before the last one is risky, because it pauses the pace exactly when people want answers.

The story is also very familiar. An ignored girl, a powerful man who adores her, a jealous sister: fans of this kind of romance will enjoy it, but it isn’t new. It depends on the small moments feeling fresh. Some viewers say they do, like Reiya stepping in to help Yuzu at the right time, while others see the family villains as too one-note.

Finally, the short run means side characters get little room. The clan politics are interesting, but there isn’t time to explore them.

Should You Watch It?

If you like romance with a soft, comforting feel, and you enjoy a lead who finally gets treated well, this is an easy pick. If you want a twisty plot or big surprises, it may feel too gentle.

Hit or flop? It’s too early to call it a big hit, but it’s a solid watch for romance fans, and the finale decides how it will be remembered.

My rating so far: ★★★½ (3.5 out of 5)

I’ll update it after I see how Episode 12 wraps things up.
