Susan Dell is a philanthropist, a former fashion entrepreneur, and the wife of Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell. She’s been married to him since 1989, and she co-founded and chairs the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation.
She’s trending because of a White House appearance on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. She was there with Michael Dell and President Donald Trump to encourage families to sign up for “Trump Accounts,” a children’s investment program. Social media then shifted the conversation to her looks, which I’ll cover below.
Here’s a plain, sourced look at who she is, what she does, and which numbers you can trust.

How Susan and Michael Dell Met
HELLO! says they met on a blind date in 1988, shortly after Susan moved to Austin, Texas, to work in real estate. A client of hers set up the lunch. Hollywoodlife puts the date in February 1988.
HELLO! quotes Susan telling Texas Monthly that Michael was the nicest man she had ever met. They married the next year in a ceremony that honored Jewish traditions.
Her Career Before Philanthropy
Susan worked in real estate and fashion. HELLO! says she had a career in fashion design before turning to philanthropy, and Hollywoodlife calls her a former fashion entrepreneur.
Merca2.0 names a luxury label called Phi, which it says ran from 2003 to 2009. That detail comes from a single outlet that doesn’t cite a source, and Hollywoodlife doesn’t mention it, so I’d treat it as unconfirmed.
The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation
The couple started their foundation in 1999. Wikipedia lists it as a private foundation based in West Lake Hills, Texas, with Susan as cofounder and board chair. Its focus is children’s issues and education, with early work centered on education and medical care in Austin.
Hollywoodlife adds that its work covers education, scholarships, employment, financial services, and health care in the US, India, Africa, and Israel. Some of the major projects Wikipedia lists:
- Dell Children’s Medical Center (Austin): a $25 million capital gift in 2004
- Dell Medical School at UT Austin: a $50 million commitment announced in 2013
- Dell Seton Medical Center: a $25 million matching grant in 2015
- UT Austin graduation rates: $100 million over 10 years, for low-income students, in 2020
- Austin homelessness: part of a $38 million commitment in 2021, including Community First! Village
Hollywoodlife also credits the couple with helping set up the $100 million Rebuild Texas Fund after Hurricane Harvey. Susan is a life trustee of the Dell Children’s Foundation board, according to the same article.
How Much Has the Foundation Given?
This is where the sources disagree. HELLO! says the foundation has given away a reported $10 billion since 1999. Merca2.0 says the couple has “committed” about $10 billion.
Wikipedia puts total giving at about $2.9 billion since 1999, as of 2025, with roughly $7.5 billion in assets. Fortune’s December 2025 report backs that up, saying the new $6.25 billion pledge is more than double what the foundation has distributed in its 26 years.
I’d go with the lower figure for money actually given. The $10 billion number may be counting commitments or something broader, and none of the outlets explain it.
The $6.25 Billion Trump Accounts Pledge
On December 2, 2025, Michael Dell, Susan Dell, and President Trump announced the pledge at the White House, on GivingTuesday. The plan is $250 for each of about 25 million American children, which comes to $6.25 billion.
Fortune says the accounts were first called “Trump Accounts” and are now referred to as Invest America accounts, launching in 2026. It doesn’t say who qualifies by age or income, and I couldn’t find those details in the sources I read.
Michael Dell said at the announcement that he got a passbook savings account as a child, and that learning about compound interest sparked his interest in saving and investing. He also said the couple had other major announcements coming.
Hollywoodlife says this is separate from the federal $1,000 deposits planned for qualifying newborns. It also says the Dells have been close friends with Trump for years and worked with him on the program for nearly a year.
Why Is Susan Dell Trending Now?
On October 7, 2026, she appeared at the White House to urge families to register for the accounts. Right after her remarks, social media filled with comments about her face, and people started posting older photos next to recent ones.
I’m not going to repeat that speculation. JustJared says it can’t verify any claims about her appearance, and Merca2.0 says there’s no confirmed evidence of cosmetic procedures. What’s real is that she was there to talk about a multibillion-dollar children’s investment program.
CNN also ran a segment titled “Susan Dell pledged billions. The internet focused on her face.” I couldn’t open the page, so I’m only noting the headline.
Net Worth: What We Know and Don’t
Susan Dell’s own net worth has not been independently established, according to Merca2.0. No named estimate exists for her alone. Most of the family wealth is tied to Michael Dell.
His figure depends on who you ask:
- Bloomberg Billionaires Index: about $245 billion, September 2026
- Forbes: $258.4 billion, per Wikipedia, with a citation retrieved June 2026
- Business Insider: about $268 billion, October 2026, per Merca2.0
These come from different dates and methods, so they won’t match. If you’re quoting one, name the source and the month.
Where the Coverage Falls Short
I’ll point out a few problems. The Merca2.0 article states most of its biography with no named source, and its header image is credited to “GEMINI,” which hints it may be AI-generated, though the article never says so. HELLO!’s then-and-now gallery has inconsistent captions, so its photo dates aren’t reliable. And the $10 billion giving claim conflicts with the foundation’s own record.
Merca2.0 also says Susan was born in Dallas and is a marathon and Ironman athlete, and that she designed gowns for Barbara and Jenna Bush. None of that showed up in the other sources, so I left it out.
Her Family
The couple has four children: Alexa, Kira, Juliette, and Zachary. None of the articles I read give their ages, and I won’t guess. They raised the family in Austin, according to Hollywoodlife.
Bottom Line
Susan Dell is a long-time philanthropist who helps lead one of the largest family foundations in the US. Her role in a $6.25 billion pledge puts her in the news, and the online talk about her appearance has overshadowed that.
Do you think the coverage of her appearance is fair, or should the focus stay on the pledge? Tell me in the comments.
